Week of 12/7-12/11

Attention parents of students online: 2nd Grade will host a book pick up on Tuesday, 12/15. Students who are remaining online for Semester 2 will pick Singapore Math books for second semester as well as a bag of activities for the last 3 days of school. Students who will be returning to Brick and Mortar will only be picking up the activity bag for the last 3 days of school. Please come to pick up these items from the front office between the hours of 8:30am-2pm.

This week we will be learning the following:

Writing: Types of Topic Sentences

Reading: Text Features

Grammar: Adjectives

Math: Understanding Multiplication and Division. Unit test Friday. *A review will be sent home on Thursday. Students are showing mastery of multiplication and division in pictorial form.

Science: Finish Digestive System

History: continue Ancient India Unit

Please note that next week we have 3 half days. Wednesday, 12/16, Thursday, 12/17, and Friday 12/18 are all half day dismissal.

Students return on Wednesday, January 6th.

Parent conferences this quarter are by teacher invitation or parent request. Invitations for parent conferences will be sent out on 12/16. If you would like to request a conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Week of 11/30-12/4

Reminder, all students will participate in Online Learning Monday, 11/30-Wednesday, 12/2. On site students, please remember to bring the following materials back to school with you on Thursday:

Math books, Pink Spalding Notebook, Agenda, orange folder, Monday and Wednesday Math homework, Rocket Math Packet, Sarah Plain and Tall book, 2 Spalding packets (the WPR, Thursday, and test packet and the HW packet), morning work packet (optional)

This week we will be learning:

Writing: Brainstorming Main idea and details of a paragraph

Science: Human Body-Digestive System

Math: Introduction to Division

Literature: Determining important information; Sarah Plain and Tall

History: Ancient India

Grammar: Adverbs; introduction to parsing sentences

Poem: Students have been assigned one stanza, plus the entire class will recite the last stanza. Please see the Poem Tab on this blog to acces this this month’s poem.
